At a recent Club Officer training session for District 18.
someone asked "What do you tell members who have reached a 'dead
end' in their path?" What they meant by dead-end was that a
member had researched a level in which they did not want to do
the required projects. I assumed that perhaps that had completed
one path and just did not want to repeat one or more of the
projects that are required in all or nearly all paths, for
example:
Introduction to Toastmasters Mentoring
Understanding Your Communication Style
Understanding Your Leadership Style
Reflect on Your Path
Or all the projects in Level 1, whether it is the pre-
or post-October 27, 2021 changes.
ALTERNATIVE # 1
My answer at the time was to just start another path.
ALTERNATIVE # 2
What I should have added was to take a look at ALL the projects
in your path. Each path 'requires' only four electives, but in
actuality there are almost thirty electives in each path.
Doing all or many of these projects would
be interesting and challenging, and should keep you motivated to
learn new skills. Keep in mind. I am personally nearing the
completion of my fourth path and I find that when repeating a
project I learn something new every time.
And remember, repeating a project does NOT mean you must do it
the same way. Each time you repeat a project, challenge yourself
to stretch, come up with a new and interesting way to present
that project, You will grow and your fellow members will see
that you are creative and innovative and new or newer members
will be inspired to challenge themselves.
I'm in no way suggesting that you don't do
the required projects, but if you find you don't want to do a
project, skip it for the time being. Come back to it later and
maybe it will be more appealing. Keep in mind you will never
complete a path if you don't do all the required projects in
that path.

Another tip - review ALL the REQUIRED project in
your next path BEFORE you purchase it. How can you do
this? Just view the matrix below, select the path of
interest and see which projects are in your path.
